There are other advantages, too, to having the main living spaces, like the lounge, dining room, kitchen and the backyard – where most people spend 90 per cent of their waking time at home – facing north. In the height of the su妹妹er, the sun is directly over those spaces, while in the winter, its low trajectory means the light will still steal in, says Dennis Kalofonos, principal of Sydney Property Finders
“Houses that are south-facing will often suffer from condensation, because of the different temperatures outside and in,” he says. “There’s not enough sun coming in to inhibit mould, moisture and humidity. Aspect is the one thing people compromise on too many times.” |
