儿子往年读小学一年级,学期伊始请求了做School Helper,上礼拜班主任排出了Schedule,我被支配在每周一的上午9点至十一点,明天一早便和儿子兴高采烈地去到学校。一开始就由学校支配开了一个Parent helper meeting,由一名教师大抵Brief了一下Classroom helper的responsibility
-Supporting and encouraging students by praising their efforts
-Demonstrating and modeling appropriately
-Encourage children to work quietly and remain on task
-Listening to individual teachers as they have individual styles.
同时还讲了一下需求keep in mind的留意事项,例如respecting privacy of students,do not mention the names of children or teachers with whom you are working in front of your own children or other parents等。开完会后回到各自的教室,孩子们正在writing about their weekend,我就帮他们Change reading folder,每种色彩代表一个Level,按照每个孩子浏览的才能,从不同Level的Box里挑拣出相应的Book,带班教师会隔一段时间为每个孩子做个Assessment来测试他们的浏览了解才能,有进步的孩子就会Change to a higher level。Change完Reading Folder就和教师一同support孩子们在课堂上的学习内容,孩子们被分红4-5个Groups,每个Group实现不同的工作。Group time完结后,大家就又都围坐在一同和教师reading story。集体觉得这里的小学学习气氛仍是满轻松的,孩子们都很enjoy what they are doing at school,并且从中也学到了常识和一些做人的情理。家长去学校做Helper一方面能够帮教师分担点任务,另外一方面也能够多理解孩子在学校的学习和表示。不知坛子里的妈妈们有无相似的教训,大家都来分享一下吧。
