University of Wollongong experts discuss bioprinting revolution in new book
Biotech company Starpharma has announced that the launch of condoms including Starpharma’s anti-viral VivaGel will be available this month.
Starpharma’s VivaGel is an anti-viral gel providing protection against HIV, human papilloma virus and herpes. Today it has been announced that condoms including VivaGel have been included in the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods.
The condoms will be sold under licence by Ansell as LifeStyles Dual Protect, starting this month, at stores including Woolworths and Coles.
“The launch of LifeStyles Dual Protect condom will represent the first marketed product for StarPharma’s VivaGel franchise, and the first of three women’s health and sexual wellness VivaGel products that are in advanced stages of development and co妹妹ercialisation,” said Dr Jackie Fairley, CEO of Starpharma.
Fairley’s company will receive royalties for the condoms, to be manufactured by Ansell, which partnered with Starpharma in bringing the product to market.
Prior to today, the innovation received a Conformity Assessment certification from the TGA in July.
According to Starpharma, tests have shown 99.9 per cent of HIV, HPV and herpes STDs are rendered inactive by VivaGel.
