Although Covid-19 infection cases in Australia is not large, it has increased rapidly in the past week. Governments at all levels have done a lot of work to ensure the safety and health of the people. If more appropriate measures can be taken to stop the spread of the disease, it is very important for everyone and the stability of economic and social order. The measures below are based on my experience and information from the media.
1.Protection: Support the medical personnel who have the potential contact with infected patients to take necessary protective measures, such as wearing a mask at work, wearing protective clothing, goggles, gloves, etc. when receiving suspected or confirmed cases. For patients, if a virus infection is suspected, a mask is also needed to reduce the chance of transmitting the virus to others.
2. Isolation: Centralized isolation or single room as much as possible, because the disease is contagious, even patients with mild symptoms. Although home isolation is feasible, it is not reliable because patients or family members may infect healthy people due to unprofessional procedures. If centralized isolation, there are supporting logistics services as well. For mild or general patients, government may rent a hotel or recreational vehicle for lots of cases management.
3. Detection: In the emergency department of the hospital, a separate fever clinic with isolation requirements is set up to effectively avoid possible cross infection of emergency patients. It may also choose the appropriate medical clinic, only for fever patients or patients suspected of Covid-19 infection, while other GP clinics are not reco妹妹ended to consult fever patients or patients suspected of Covid-19 infection, reducing the possibility of cross-infection of ordinary patients. It may also set up an mobile detection center, similar to the drive through of a fast food restaurant, and wear well-protected staff to collect specimens of the tested person for rapid testing.
