    Does anybody working as a payroll officer, i got a question.

    does unpaid/absent leave accrue any holiday and sick leave entitlement?

    Periods of leave without pay will not count as service for the purpose of determining entitlements.

    If you have a new baby, you are entitle to take Maternity / Paternity Leave. they are unpaid leave. But no leave entitlement will be acrrued.

    Your employer agrees to let you take leave without pay. my workmate took one year LWOP, he was back to his hometown to play Cricket.

    In short, as long as the employer say yes, you could take LWOP.

    If you want to take 4 weeks holiday, but you only have 2 weeks annual leave, you may take another 2 weeks holiday as unpaid when your manager approves.

    if your leave entitlement balance is just 2 weeks, you may ask your manager to grant you 2 weeks annual leave taken in advance. some employers will approve.
