“When a tooth is extracted the healing process often results in some loss of the bone that used to support that tooth. Bone grafting is used to restore the lost bone dimension when the jaw ridge gets too thin to properly support an implant. Although a bone graft can be placed several months before the implant is procedure, at BDS we prefer to place the bone graft at the time of implant placement wherever possible to minimise the number of procedures and costs to our patients.
