Fee adjustment
Dear Newington families,
In my letter of 4 April, I outlined a number of measures being implemented to help Newington families who were suffering financially as the COVID-19 pandemic, and its associated effects on the workforce, began to impact them directly. Our co妹妹unity priority remains helping families who have lost their incomes to weather this crisis so their boys do not lose their places at Newington.
In addition to these provisions, the College has looked very closely at paring back capital and recurrent spending that will not impact the boys’ i妹妹ediate education or our teaching staff. As you know, our plan has always been to use those savings to either help families in need and/or to pass them back to everyone, depending on how the crisis unfolded.
The earlier than expected return to school has now telescoped our thinking. While most of our costs are unchanged, a combination of the measures outlined above, some co-curricular adjustments, and the deferral or cancellation of some 2020 projects mean savings have been made. As a result, we want to share these savings with our families and will make a one-off ex-gratia fee adjustment of $900 per student. This will be automatically deducted from the May invoice. We hope this adjustment will help all families in this time of ongoing uncertainty.
If you wish to confidentially discuss your own family circumstances and the hardship provisions the College has put in place, please contact us on 9568 9333 and ask for the Corporate Services Office.
Kind regards,
Mr Michael Parker
