The number of vehicles affected by the Takata airbag scandal has grown by a further 59,522 units, with Mitsubishi Motors Australia recalling older examples of its Lancer and Lancer Evolution models this week.

Affected vehicles in the Mitsubishi range include sedan and wagon variants of the CH Lancer, along with the CY and CZ Lancer Evolution, all built between June 十一 2003 and December 30 2008.

The recalled Mitsubishi models are believed to be equipped with a defective airbag inflator manufactured by Japanese company Takata.
