Toyota Australia has issued a follow-up recall for “approximately 48,000” Corolla and Rukus models built between 2007 and 20十二 over concerns replacement airbags fitted as part of the Takata campaign may have been installed incorrectly.
According to the Japanese automotive giant, previous-generation Corolla and Rukus vehicles affected by the Takata passenger airbag recall may have had their replacement parts incorrectly installed, meaning the airbags may not inflate correctly in the event of a collision – increasing the risk of injury.
Both hatchback and sedan versions of the Corolla produced between 6 March 2007 and 26 December 20十二 are affected, while recalled Rukus units were produced from 26 February 2010 through 26 December 20十二.
