There is a special rule that deems a taxpayer to acquire a dwelling for its market value when it is first used to produce income. However, this will only apply where the dwelling was your main residence prior to it being used to produce income. As your property was used as a rental property before it became your main residence the special rule does not apply and you are not required to get the dwelling valued when you first moved into it. |
