The general principle is that interest is deductible if your intention of renovation is directly towards the gaining or producing of assessable income through deriving future rental income.
However, if you intend to sell the property after the renovation is completed, then it is likely that the interest deduction may be denied. This will be part of the CGT cost base of the property. |
