Gippsland Lakes Fishing Report - May 10
Lakes Entrance: Trevally are still around the town jetties, also Luderick on local weed. The main channel and surf beach is still good for Salmon and Tailor, blue bait and pilchard the best bait.
Lake Tyers: Bream are up and about in both Arms, ranging in size from 35cm to 41cm. Bait to use are prawn and plastics. The odd Flathead have been caught around the shallow banks and the best time is at dusk.
Mitchell River: Bream are at Eagle Point and up to Shadoof Lodge, the Grassy Banks area is also a good spot. Best bait being prawn, soft plastics and vibes.
Tambo River: From the Blue Hole and down to the Three Gums are the best places for Bream and Flathead, using prawn and sandworm.
Nicholson: Between the two Bridges, from the fishing platforms and around the boats have been good for Flathead and Bream, using prawn.
Metung: Chinamans Creek and Box’s Creek are fishing well for Bream, Mullet and Perch, best time around dusk. Shaving Point to Lake King jetty and the boardwalks also worth a try, best bait prawn and pippis.
Paynesville: Tailor are cruising around Sperm Whale Head, taking lures and trolling para-vains to get the lures down deep. Also Mullet are to be found from the jetties on sandworm and Duck Arm is worth a try.
Hollands Landing: Griffin Point and towards Red Bluff and the jetties have Bream, Mullet, Tailor on soft shell clams, peeled prawn and sandworm.
Marlo: Bream, Mullet, Luderick are at Bream Point and down to the sand flats at Marlo. Flathead, Estuary Perch, Bream and Mullet on local shell in the Narrows. The surf at the river mouth for Salmon and Tailor on silver lures.
Tamboon Inlet: Tea Tree Point near the river mouth for Bream around 2kg, using cut black crab. Flathead are chasing glassy’s in sandy shallow areas. Salmon and Tailor from the beach, on blue bait and pilchard.
Be妹妹 River: Bream are in the Lakes chasing peeled prawn, with Flathead in the mix as well. You may need to keep on the move for good results.
Mallacoota: On the outgoing tide for Yellow Fin Bream. At the entrance some Flathead are about. Luderick at the Wharf and Captains Point. In the Top Lake and the Narrows to Gypsy Point for Bream. And the Narrows is also a good spot for Mulloway with skippy fillets the best bait. |
