A 1929 Mercedes-Benz SSK was sold for $7.4 million by Bonhams at Sussex, UK. The purest sports car of its time, a trio of SSKs swept the podium at the 1927 German Grand Prix. Thirty-three cars were built, and all lived hard lives--today only a handful of original and complete cars survive. This was a desirable short-wheelbase car, fully documented from new, unrestored and still wearing its original coachwork.
2004年9月3日，一辆1929年的梅赛德斯-奔跑SSK由英国苏塞克斯的邦瀚斯拍卖行以740万美元的价钱售出。作为过后最纯正的跑车，三辆SSK横扫了1927年德国大奖赛的领奖台。该车共出产了33辆，一切车都历经艰苦，只要多数原装的残缺车辆幸存上去。拍卖车是一台使人憧憬的短轴车型，重新车开始就有残缺的记载，没有通过修复，依然使用原始车身。
