Apartment owners will be paying strata, land tax and mortgage payments. House owners will be paying land tax on top of their mortgage. Pensioners will be liable for this on limited income. Given the margins people encounter with servicing a Sydney mortgage or receiving a pension, the land tax would put many under financial stress and default. Not sure if the intention is to make it a finite amount. Once paid then it ceases or if it is an ever increasing tax. Remember there is not a charge or penalty that NSW Inc has not worked out how to apply and maximise for profit. Having the highest stamp duty rate in Australia they are obviously are not going to implement a system where they lose out. What are the untintended consequences and what about these issues?” |
